This project would be a type of campaign. the goal of the campaign is to help bring awareness to what lymphedema is. My Mom has lymphedema due to past Breast Cancer treatment and sometimes gets asked about what her compression sleeve is. To clarify, she doesn’t really get upset about these questions since people are usually really sincere about it and often find them cool or interesting. I asked her what ways she though we could solve this issue, and she really wanted to have educational materials available.
I planned to make a tote bag and a booklet/zine. The tote bag would include the logo for the brand, hopefully sparking some interest in what it is and bringing people to look up what it means if they’re interested (indirect education in a way, for people who don’t necessarily want to have full conversations with others). The booklet would be distributed in high-school health classrooms as a way to bring awareness about some of the side effects of cancer treatment.
